  1. 1. Here are some examples of how Curington Elementary uses technology and information systems to identify campus, curriculum, instructional development, and professional development needs:

AWARE - an Eduphoria application which allows us to disaggregate student test data.

STaR Chart - this online survey helps us determine overall proficiency of campus staff with technology.

Workshop by Eduphoria - documents professional development efforts of teachers

    2. Here are some examples of how technology is being used at Curington Elementary to deliver and to enrich instruction:

Social Bookmarking - Some teachers are using social bookmarking to create stacks of internet sites that reinforce TEKS objectives. Students are using these great sites in centers and in tutorial sessions to master those objectives and skills.

iPads - Available at this time in small numbers; nevertheless, teachers are using these tablet devices to enrich their teaching. Capitalizing on the interactivity, convenience, and popularity of these sleek technology tools teachers are finding astonishing world of apps to share with their students.

eInstruction Mobi and Workspace - second grade teachers on our campus are using these tablet devices to increase their mobility during large group instruction and to provide their students with another way of interface with the content being presented.

Google Apps - this platform of applications provides teachers the opportunity to overcome many of the hurdles associated with student collaboration on projects of all kinds. These applications make it especially convenient for teachers and students to share and collaborate their ideas and documents.

    3. We want our students to be excited and confident about learning. 21st Century learners must be proficient in using technology tools and just as important, they must be able to choose the best tool for the job.

    4.Some possible obstacles:

Teachers that allowed themselves to fall behind in there understanding of technology and how it can be used in the classroom to enhance learning.

Pedagogy - instructional methods must be over-hauled to provide learning environments that meet the needs of today's learners.

Nostalgia - many educators today long to return to the golden age of education. This attitude has the tendency to slow progress. One of the biggest issues that faces us today is the huge gap that we have allowed to grow up in our efforts to keep up.
